Catholic Mass Changes: Parishoners React

METAIRIE—

For the first time in 40 years the Catholic liturgy is changing.

Today marks the first day the changes were made to the Roman missal.

Instead of praying, “And also with you”, Catholics must now say, “And with your spirit.”

“In one being with the father” is no more.  It is now, “Consubstantial with the father”.

Most parishoners at St. Clement of Rome in Metairie didn’t seem to mind the slight linguistic changes.

“We are used to saying it the way it used to be before.  I think we will get used to it,”  Wendy Jones said.

“It brings more of a religious sentiment to it and I think it brings more feeling,”  Joyce Rebel said.
