Rosemead’s Don Bosco Tech celebrates class of 2012

ROSEMEAD – After a four-year journey through high school, 125 young men on Friday evening celebrated a major milestone – graduation.

Don Bosco Technical Institute, an all-male catholic school, held its commencement ceremonies at its Rosemead campus, beginning with a special baccalaureate mass and ended with a reception for Don Bosco alumni.

“We’re extremely proud of our senior class,” Principal Xavier Jimenez said. “This group of students consists of technologically competent innovators, communicators and leaders, and we have great confidence in the future achievements of the class of 2012.”

Ninety-seven percent of Don Bosco students will begin their post-secondary education in the fall, with approximately sixty percent majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related fields, according to school officials.

Dr. Ali A. Valenzuela, a 1998 Bosco Tech graduate who is now assistant professor of politics at Princeton University, delivered the keynote address.

The ceremony also featured a speech by valedictorian Sina Almasian.
